"Take Me Out To The Ballgame"

Let's go to the ZOO!

One of the perks of living in Cleveland Heights is the fact that the zoo is free on Mondays. We just have to take a bill with our name and address on it and some ID. We have taken advantage of this before and loved it. We went for the second time a few weeks ago. It was really fun, but super hot! The poor animals must have thought so too because a lot of them were just laying in the shade. I guess you can put up with some hot weather when you can get in for free!

We found this sign on the way in and of course we had to stop for a picture. We seemed to inspire other families around us as we were quickly moved to the side so they could get family pictures taken.
You can see the elephants when you first walk in. These have always been Daxton's favorite and he always points and waves.
After walking around to a few of the animals, we sat down to rest and decided that we should have some lunch. We had the fabulous meal of peanut butter sandwiches, chips, and grapes. The real highlight were the capri suns and water! Man it was H-O-T!
We're off in search of some animals!
We found a grizzly bear! This bear, the polar bears, and the seals were about the only animals that we saw moving around at the zoo. Daxton loved the bears and was waving at them. He was a little shocked when the polar bears started growling and fighting with each other, but who could blame them with it being so dang hot. (I hate this picture of me, but Doug insists that I use it because it actually shows an animal, and no I don't mean me.)

This is where the zebras and giraffes are, they were way off in the distance but we were glad we caught a glimpse of them. Daxton's face pretty much said how we were all beginning to feel at this point, so we decided to go get an Icee and go home. Enjoying the mist! We found this fan/mister over by the flamingos and no one was near it, which was rare because at this point the zoo was packed. We figured it was because the birds were so smelly. So we were enjoying the coolness, while holding our breaths, when we were spotted and about six kids came running over and started hogging the mist. I about had to run them over to get Daxton out of there! We bought a blue raspberry Icee and we all enjoyed it!On the way out, Daxton found this statue and had to go over and check it out! We had such a fun day! However, it was nice to get in the car and blast the AC!

Highlights

This happened a while ago, but I didn't want to forget why I took the picture so I decided that I should write a little bit about it. We were busy getting ready to leave the house and I was just getting ready to give Daxton a bath when I realized I hadn't heard or seen him in a while. I was just starting around the corner of the bathroom when he came walking up with a big smile on his face and my mascara wand in his hair. He had managed to get the mascara open and was combing it ever so nicely through his blond hair. He must have had it open for a little while because he had multiple black streaks through his hair. I know the picture isn't that great, but he refused to hold still and kept trying to grab the camara so that he could see the picture that I was trying to take. Anyways, I decided a crappy picture was worth not making him cry, so I settled for this and hence the reason I need to write what the picture is of!
